Privacy Policy

Effective: 1 July 2022 · Last updated: 26 July 2026

Your privacy is important to us. It is Musiko's policy to respect your privacy and comply with any applicable law and regulation regarding any personal information we may collect about you, including via our app, Musiko, and its associated services.

Personal information is any information about you which can be used to identify you. This includes information about you as a person (such as name, address, and date of birth), your devices, payment details, and even information about how you use an app or online service.

In the event our app contains links to third-party sites and services, please be aware that those sites and services have their own privacy policies. After following a link to any third-party content, you should read their posted privacy policy information about how they collect and use personal information. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any of your activities after you leave our app.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Musiko's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • What Google user data is accessed: When you connect YouTube Music, Musiko requests read-only access to your YouTube channel subscriptions via the youtube.readonly scope.
  • How we use Google user data: We use this data exclusively to extract the names of music channels you subscribe to, which allows us to automatically populate your Musiko artist library and notify you of new releases from those artists.
  • Data sharing and disclosure: Musiko does not share, transfer, or disclose your Google user data to any third parties, advertising platforms, or data brokers.
  • Data protection mechanisms: Your Google OAuth access tokens are AES-encrypted before being stored securely on your device. Tokens are transmitted over HTTPS to our cloud infrastructure solely to sync your library and are never stored or exposed in plaintext.
  • Data retention and deletion: We do not persistently store your raw YouTube subscription data. We only extract and store channel names to match against our music database. You can disconnect at any time by tapping "Disconnect" in the Musiko app, which immediately deletes all associated sync data. Deleting your Musiko account also purges this data within 90 days.
